Nothing Gold Can Stay

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Robert Frost (1875-1963)

And then he was gone...Feels like I just lost one of my finest friends, or a third grandfather. As members of the Church, there is a poignancy to the deaths of Church leaders who have for so long been a part of our lives. President Hinckley has made an especially significant impact on my life, as much by whom he has been as by what he has said. Simply said, he has lived an abundant life, and now is reaping the fruits of his labors. In imagining the sweet reunions he is now enjoying, perhaps the most tender is the one with his mother, who died when he was but a young boy.
